What is the difference between point to point and multipoint connection?

The main difference between point-to-point and multipoint connection is that in a point-to-point connection the link is only between two devices i.e. a sender and a receiver. On the other hand, in a multipoint connection ,the link is between a sender and multiple receivers.

What is the difference between simplex and duplex communication?

The main difference between simplex, half duplex, and full duplex is that in a simplex mode of transmission the communication is unidirectional whereas, in the half-duplex mode of transmission the communication is two directional but the channel is alternately used by the both the connected device.

What is the difference between synchronous and asynchronous transmission?

One of the major differences is that in Synchronous Transmission, the sender and receiver should have synchronized clocks before data transmission. Whereas Asynchronous Transmission does not require a clock but it adds a parity bit to the data before transmission.

What is the difference between period and frequency?

Frequency, on the contrary, refers to the number of complete cycles or oscillations occur per second. Period is a quantity related to time, whereas frequency is related to rate.

What is digital signal?

A digital signal is a signal that is being used to represent data as a sequence of discrete values; at any given time it can only take on one of a finite number of values.

What is the difference between software and protocol?

A protocol is not a set of rules. A protocol is the thing those rules describe the rules of. This is why programs implement a protocol and comply with a standard. A protocol define a set of rules used by two or more parties to interact between themselves.

What are the responsibilities of Data Link layer?

The data link layer is also responsible for logical link control, media access control, hardware addressing, error detection and handling and defining physical layer standards. It provides reliable data transfer by transmitting packets with the necessary synchronization, error control and flow control.
